Taylor Swift, Kanye West big winners at 2015 MTV VMAs
     2015-September-1  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE 2015 MTV VMAs went off without a hitch, with performances from Nicki Minaj, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams and a slew of others. However, the biggest winners of the night were the two who fatefully shared the VMAs stage in 2009.

Taylor Swift took home top honors at the ceremony, winning video of the year for “Bad Blood” and bringing up her gang of girls from the visual on stage. The pop star came out as a special guest earlier in the evening during Minaj’s opening performance, when the singer ripped through “Trini Dem Girls” and “The Night Is Still Young,” during which Swift emerged from the back of the stage to meet up with Minaj for “Bad Blood.” The two had feuded online last month after Swift interpreted some of Minaj’s criticisms as personal swipes.

And then there was Kanye West, who gave the most memorable speech at the VMAs after Swift presented him with the Michael Jackson video vanguard award. During the 13-minute musing, he announced that he’ll be running for U.S. president in 2020.

Minaj had harsher words for host Miley Cyrus, who had criticized the rapper for her comments regarding her rant against the VMAs that sparked her feud with Swift.

While accepting the award for best hip-hop video for “Anaconda,” she ended her speech with some choice words for the singer. “And now back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press,” she said. “Miley, what’s good?”

Additional performances from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and The Weeknd were standouts, as was Nick Jonas’ live debut of “Levels” at the pre-show.

Cyrus capped off the surprise-packed evening with an unannounced performance of her own, before revealing that her new album was out for free at the website mileycyrusandherdeadpetz.com. Cyrus won video of the year last year for “Wrecking Ball.”(SD-Agencies)
