78 clinics shamed for violations
     2015-September-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN’S health authority announced Wednesday that it has named and shamed 78 medical institutions for violating rules in the first half of this year.

Violations included illegal advertisements, allowing unqualified staff to prescribe medicine and improper waste disposal. Violators received penalty points.

The Shenzhen Municipal Health, Population and Family Planning Commission criticized the 78 clinics in a circular distributed to all of the city’s medical institutions.

Medical institutions that received the worst reviews include the Shenzhen Limei Clinic and Shenzhen Pengcheng Construction Group Clinic, both of which were given 28 penalty points. Luo Cui’e Western Medicine Clinic followed with 26 points, Shenzhen Cuibao Clinic with 25 and Shenzhen Bantian Hospital Shuidoukeng Community Health Care Center with 24 points.

Operation at the five clinics was suspended for between one to six months.

The commission also said it handled 781 cases of unlicensed doctors in the first half of this year, imposing fines totaling 496,800 yuan (US$78,857).

The commission said Wednesday that it conducted inspections and reviews of the city’s 3,960 medical institutions, including hospitals, clinics and community health care centers from January to June. A total 619 institutions found to have committed violations were given penalty points.
