JENNIFER LAWRENCE is circling an adaptation of the spy novel “Red Sparrow,” about a Russian agent trained in the art of seduction who becomes a mole for the CIA, Deadline reported.
Jason Matthews’ Edgar award-winning book centers on a state intelligence officer named Dominika Egorova, who is taught against her will to use sex as a weapon in her role as a post-Soviet intelligence “sparrow.”
Deadline reported that Francis Lawrence, who has worked with Lawrence in “Hunger Games” installments “Catching Fire,” “Mockingjay Part One” and the upcoming “Mockingjay Part Two,” is in line to direct, a role for which David Fincher was once rumored. Screenwriter Justin Haythe is said to be rewriting an earlier take on the script by Eric Warren Singer.
After “Mockingjay Part 2,” Lawrence will next star in the David O Russell-directed biopic “Joy,” as Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano. She is also lined up to headline “Passengers,” a US$150 million space romance about two travelers who wake early from hibernation on an interplanetary journey, opposite Chris Pratt.(SD-Agencies)
