   云备胎

    yúnbèitāi

Meaning: "云" means "cloud," and "备胎" means "spare tire." As we have introduced before, Chinese netizens use the term "spare tire" to refer to someone who has a crush on another person but is not the boyfriend or girlfriend of their love. Moreover, this poor "spare tire" has little hope of winning the heart of their crush, who often treats them as some convenient means to get generous help and care. The term "cloud" comes from the idea of cloud computing, where people can share a powerful server and access to information without using up the storage space in their personal computer. Therefore, a "cloud spare tire" is someone who is extremely loving, low-maintenance and not demanding towards their crush.

    A: 明天去踢球吧?

    Míngtiān qù tīqíu ba?

How about come playing soccer with us tomorrow?

    B: 不行,小丽要我陪她看电影呢。

Bùxíng, xiǎolì yào wǒ péi tā kàn diànyǐng ne。

I can't. Xiaoli has asked me to watch a movie with her.

    A: 你以为你是暖男,其实她当你是云备胎啊。

Nǐ yǐwéi nǐ shì nuǎnnán, qíshí tā dāng nǐ shì yúnbèitāi a。

You think you are being warm and kind, but she takes you to be someone easily available and standby.
