Subsidized housing for the disabled
     2015-October-1  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN has made 190 government-subsidized apartments available for disabled people on a waiting list, the city’s housing and construction bureau said yesterday.

Apartments set aside for disabled applicants are larger than those rented to able-bodied applicants because disabled people need more space to move around.

Disabled applicants pay extra rent for larger spaces based on market prices.

Of the 190 apartments, 101 of them are designed for disabled residents, the bureau said. The apartments are at the Longyueju housing estate in Longhua New Area.

The size of a government-subsidized apartment is based on family size, the housing authority said. A single person can rent an apartment that is up to 35 square meters, while a family of two people can rent an apartment of up to 50 square meters.
