Man proposes to girlfriend with board game
     2015-October-1  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A MAN from California, the U.S., designed a customized version of the traditional Monopoly board in order to propose to his girlfriend.

Justin Lebon called on a carpenter friend to create the romantic board for him, which saw the usual landmarks featured in the game replaced with memorable locations and moments from throughout the couple’s relationship.

The romantic groom-to-be also had special dice made, to ensure that his girlfriend, Michal Ott, would land on “Chance” —the spot where Jason popped the question using a unique chance card that bore his proposal.

The board was handcrafted by Mark Becker, a carpenter friend of Jason’s, and started as an idea for a Christmas gift.

Shortly afterwards, however, it turned into a surprise engagement plan, revolving around the pair’s favorite board game.

“I knew I was able to pull off a surprise. I just had to figure out how. It didn’t take long at all really to think of all of this. About a day or two. It all just fell together perfectly,” Justin wrote on Facebook.

The romantic Monopoly board took an impressive five weeks to build — but comes complete with extras that are unique to Mark’s design, including a secret trap door just big enough to conceal a diamond ring.

Jason then spent hours creating personalized cards for the Chance and the Community Chest sections of the board.

But it was the locations on the board that featured the most romantic elements of the game; the property squares included places they’d lived along with some of the most memorable vacations they had taken together.

The First Street Ale House was where they went on their first date, Lake Arlington is their favorite Californian getaway.

It all came to a climax on Christmas morning as the pair sat down to play the game.

Michal unwrapped the present and saw the board game laid out. With tears in her eyes she squealed to Jason, “It’s about us!”(SD-Agencies)
