“SHERLOCK” is back, and there’s a brand-new trailer to prove it.

    The one-off special of the BBC/Masterpiece co-production is set in the Victorian England era of Arthur Conan Doyle’s books, a departure from the modern reinterpretation that the series typically opts for. Though no air date has been announced yet, it will air at some point before “Sherlock” returns for its fourth season in 2017.

    The trailer itself is chock full of goodies for fans of the series, both television and book, featuring a heavily mustachioed John Watson (Martin Freeman), a deerstalker hat-outfitted Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and the foggy, mysterious London of a bygone era.

    “The stage is set, the curtain rises, we are ready to begin,” Cumberbatch’s 19th-century Holmes says in the new trailer.

    “You’re Sherlock Holmes. Wear the damn hat,” Freeman’s Watson snaps at one point in the trailer to a smirking Cumberbatch.

    Speaking about the special at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, showrunner Steven Moffat said audiences should expect more or less the same type of quips they’ve grown accustomed to.

    “It’s like we checked the books and discovered we’d set it in the wrong time period by mistake and it’s like we’re correcting it,” Moffat said during a panel at the con.

    Three more episodes are coming to make up the fourth season of the show. British media theorize that the special will air around Christmas. Series 4 of “Sherlock” starts airing in January.
