    Farewell

TAIWAN TV producer Wang Weizhong announced that comedy talk show “Kangxi Lai Le,” one of the most popular programs his company has made, is ready to end.

This came after both hosts Kevin Tsai and Dee Hsu announced they were quitting Friday. Wang said he respects their decisions and since the show was named after the two, their leaving will lead to the show’s end. He added that it’s not been decided when exactly the show will stop airing. “Kangxi Lai Le” (“Here Comes Kang and Xi”) was first aired in January 2004. In most episodes, the hosts interview a panel of celebrities on various controversial topics while employing their signature comic bantering.

    Golden Horse awards

MODEL and actress Lin Chi-ling has been tapped to co-host this year’s Golden Horse Film Awards. The actress, who first hosted the show in 2004, will be hosting it again this year alongside Golden Horse regular Mickey Huang.

Meanwhile, 250 films have been submitted for competition this year, with 39 of them receiving nominations.

Hou Hsiao-hsien’s “The Assassin” leads the race with 11 nominations, followed by Tsang Tso-chi’s “Thanatos, Drunk.” The 52nd Golden Horse Film Awards will be held Nov. 21 at the National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei.

    Soul Train Awards

THE Weeknd and the duo behind “Uptown Funk,” Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, are tied for five nominations each at the Soul Train Awards this year.

All three share nominations for Video of the Year, Song of the Year and The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award. The Weeknd also is nominated for Best R&B/Soul Male Artist and Album of the Year. Ronson and Mars are nominated for Best Dance Performance and Best Collaboration. Beyonce, Chris Brown, Jidenna and Tyrese have four nominations each for the awards show to be held Nov. 6 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.(SD-Agencies)
