Chow down
     2015-October-20  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

    Chow是“松狮犬”,chow down是什么意思?请看对话:

A: Sorry to have kept you waiting for so long. The business is so good at this time of the day.

B: You said it. We can chow this pizza down in about two minutes!

Note: This term means “to eat something, usually quickly or without good manners.” A chow is a breed of Chinese dog. The reputation that poor Chinese had dogs for eating has led to chow being thought of as a slang term for food. “Chow,” in the sense of food, is recorded from the mid-19th century. The phrase “chow down” originated in the U.S. military around WWII. For example: I found a box of cookies and chowed it down before anybody knew what I was doing.
