V Rock Night, Low Wormwood at B10 Live
     2015-November-2  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

V Rock Night, a show featuring five Japanese visual kei bands — Arlequin, Kiryu, Codomo Dragon, Dog in the Parallel World Orchestra and Royz — will be held at B10 Live on Sunday.

Visual kei is a movement among Japanese musicians that is characterized by the use of varying levels of makeup, elaborate hairstyles and flamboyant costumes, often, but not always, coupled with androgynous aesthetics. Some people think visual kei refers to a music genre, with its sound usually related to glam rock, punk rock and heavy metal.

However, visual kei acts play various genres, including those unrelated to rock such as electronic, pop, etc. Other sources, including members of the movement themselves, state that it is not a music genre and that the fashion and participation in the related subculture are what exemplifies the use of the term.

Meanwhile, Chinese black metal band Zuriaake will perform at the same venue Friday and Low Wormwood band will play Saturday. Low Wormwood is from Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province. Their music style is folk blended with rock and experimental elements. Low Wormwood observes and investigates the world using their music from the unique perspective of China’s northwesterners, mixed with strong feelings for their hometown, Lanzhou, a valley city along the Yellow River. In July 2012, the band won the Best Chinese Band award at the 2012 Chinese Media Music Awards.

Time: Nov. 6 (Zuriaake), 7 (Low Wormwood), 8 (V Rock)

Tickets: 60-80 yuan (Zuriaake), 100-120 yuan (Low Wormwood), 250-300 yuan (V Rock)

Venue: B10 Live, North Area, OCT-LOFT, Nanshan District (南山区华侨城创意文化园北区B10现场)

Metro: Luobao Line, Qiaocheng East Station (侨城东站), Exit A(SD News)
