红海

    hónghǎi

    Meaning: Translated as "red ocean," this is a concept easy to understand. Unlike blue ocean, the red ocean is where every industry is today. There is a defined market, defined competitors and a typical way to run a business in any specific industry. The researchers called this the red ocean, analogous to a shark infested ocean where the sharks are fighting each other for the same prey. In other words, red ocean is a fully-developed market place where competition is fierce.

    A: 我们小区的电梯里天天有智能手机的广告，很多看起来不错的手机都才一千元多一点。

    Wǒmen xiǎoqū de diàntī lǐ tiāntiān yǒu zhìnéng shǒujī de guǎnggào, hěnduō kànqǐlái bùcuò de shǒujī dōu cái yīqiānyuán duō yīdiǎn。

    There are lots of ads for smartphones in the elevators of my housing estate, and many of them, looking smart, sell for just a little more than 1,000 yuan.

    Guóchǎn zhìnéng shǒujī shìchǎng xiànzài shì yīpiàn hónghǎi, dōu zài dǎ jiàgézhàn。

    The domestic market for smartphones is a red ocean, where manufacturers are forced into price wars.

    A: 华为倒是在九月推出一款四千元以上的手机，据说这款手机夺得多项设计大奖。

    Huáwéi dǎoshì zài jǐuyuè tuīchū yīkuǎn sìqiānyuán yǐshàng de shǒujī, jùshuō zhèkuǎn shǒujī duódé duōxiàng shèjì dàjiǎng。

    Surprisingly, Huawei Technologies marketed a new smartphone in September which sells for more than 4,000 yuan. It reportedly has won quite a few design contests.
