    Sea World Carnival

    International residents in Shekou will hold a party featuring music parade, bagpipes, Sichuan face-changing, children’s performances, folk handicraft demonstration and Chinese calligraphy. Hong Kong Satellite TV host Maizi will host the event.

    Niccolo Faraci

    Italian double bass player Niccolo Faraci will collaborate with Taiwanese pianist Tsai Hsin-yu and Guangzhou drummer Nie Xin for a jazz show.

    Time: 9:30 p.m., Nov. 6

    Tickets: 60-80 yuan

    Book Exchange

    Book Exchange is an event organized by U.S. teacher Glen Cornell for local book-lovers to share books. Cornell says they currently have over 500 English and 100 Chinese books. Attendees are invited to donate and borrow books.

    Time: 3-6 p.m., Nov. 8

    Venue: 1/F, Shuiwei Xinjiayuan, Shuiwei Street, Futian District (福田区水围街水围新家园一楼)

    First Fridays

    First Fridays is a monthly event combining local short films and dance music. At 8 p.m., a collection of short films made by local amateur filmmakers will be shown. Come early if you want a good seat. If you’d like to show your film at the next event, email muzikbox@163.com. At 10 p.m. the venue turns into Muzikbox, hosting local DJs. This month’s theme is the 1950s/60s, with music by DJ Tayta. Guest DJs include Mojo and CEO.

    Time: 8 p.m. till late, Nov. 6

    Tickets: Free for entering before 10 p.m. and 30 yuan for entering after 10 p.m.

    Hip-hop dance

    Local dance troupes will present a night of hip-hop dance.
