LIAM NEESON will star in “Felt,” the story of Mark Felt, the man who was the Watergate scandal’s infamous informant, Deep Throat.
Peter Landesman, the filmmaker behind the upcoming Will Smith NFL drama “Concussion,” is directing the spy drama.
Neeson will portray Felt, a lifelong G-Man who was acting as associate director of the FBI at the time of the early 1970s Watergate scandal. It began when five men were arrested for breaking into the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee. The men were eventually connected to President Richard Nixon, who was forced to resign.
Felt leaked information to Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward, who would only name his source as Deep Throat. The true identity of the source was revealed in 2005.
In “Felt,” Felt will be seen as someone disheartened that the organization he works for is involved in cover-up but also who is torn apart as he leaks information. It is also being described as a spy thriller.
