    Little mermaid

CHLOE GRACE MORETZ will be playing the little mermaid in Universal’s upcoming live-action movie, an adaption of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale that also served as inspiration for the quite different Disney film. Andersen’s classic fairy tale is much darker in tone than the Disney tale we’ve come to know and love.

Moretz, 18, who has steadily risen to fame with roles in films like “Hugo” and “Dark Shadows,” is filming “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising.”

    Coldplay’s new set

COLDPLAY has premiered a new song “Adventures of a Lifetime,” the first lifted from the British act’s seventh studio set. The track will be featured on Coldplay’s forthcoming album, “A Head Full of Dreams,” due out Dec. 4. Produced by Norwegian hit-making duo Stargate along with longtime collaborator Rik Simpson, the album features guest appearances by Beyonce, Tove Lo and Noel Gallagher, among others. The new album will contain 12 songs, including a hidden work “X Marks The Spot.”

    Universal Studios park

CONSTRUCTION of Beijing’s Universal Studios Theme Park project kicked off in Tongzhou District Thursday. It is expected to be completed and open to the public in 2020.

The whole project will cover an area of 4 square kilometers, with the initial project covering 1.59 square kilometers. The total investment is over 50 billion yuan (around US$788 million). The park is expected to receive over 10 million tourists each year.

    Hu Ge awarded

CHINESE actor Hu Ge has received the “Asian Special Contribution Award” at the 10th anniversary of the “Asian TV Drama Conference” in Japan for his TV dramas “Inspiration in Life” (2014) and “Good Time” (2015).

The award is picked by Asia’s top producers and screenwriters. It’s the first time the Asian TV Drama Conference has issued this particular award to an individual. Hu was best known for playing Li Xiaoyao in hit television series “Chinese Paladin.” Recently, his breakthrough role of Lin Shu in the drama “Nirvana in Fire” has been as a tremendous success.
