SHANDONG Luneng’s Brazilian forward Aloisio dos Santos Goncalves was presented the Golden Boot award for the 2015 Chinese Super League (CSL) season Tuesday.

    The 27-year-old Brazilian scored 22 goals from 28 matches while helping Luneng finish third place in the 16-team league. His compatriot Goulart (Guangzhou Evergrande, 19 goals) received the Silver Boot as runner-up for the most goals in the season. Dejan Damjanovic (Beijing Guo’an, 16 goals) took the Bronze Boot.

    Goulart, who played a pivotal role in Evergrande’s successful title defense, also picked up the Golden Ball award.

    World Cup-winning coach Luiz Felipe Scolari was named Coach of the Year after steering Evergrande to their fifth straight CSL title.

    The 67-year-old Brazilian, who guided his native team to win the 2002 World Cup, took over Evergrande midway through the 2015 season and the side maintained an unbeaten streak (11 wins and 5 draws) under his rein.

    Goalie Zeng Cheng won the Golden Glove to make it a hat trick of awards for Evergrande.

    China international striker Wu Lei, who scored 14 goals with Shanghai SIPG in 2015, won the Best Local Scorer award for the third consecutive year.

    “It’s a pity I missed several opportunities this year, and there is still room for improvement,” said Wu.

    Foreign players have swept the Golden Boot award for eight years with Li Jinyu being the last Chinese player to claim the award. Li scored 26 goals in 2006.

    As more and more big names such as Goulart and Dario Conca are lured to China, local strikers have to struggle for a place in the starting lineup.
