A woman holds a new-version 100-yuan note she received from a bank in Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi Province, on Thursday, the day the new notes were released. The notes look similar to the old version but are harder to counterfeit and easier for machines to read. The new note is designed to make it easier for the public to spot fakes.
