Japan legend signs new deal at 48
     2015-November-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

JAPANESE striker Kazuyoshi Miura will extend one of soccer’s longest professional careers by another 12 months after the 48-year-old agreed on a new deal with Yokohama FC on Wednesday.

The club announced the one-year extension at 11:11 a.m. local time Nov. 11, a tribute to the player dubbed “King Kazu,” who wears the No. 11 shirt.

The league’s oldest player will stay with the second-division club past his 49th birthday after proving he still has some fairy dust in his boots by scoring three goals in his 16 appearances this season.

“I’m grateful to the club officials and supporters who have supported me throughout,” Miura said after extending his professional career into a 31st year. “I will continue to give everything I have.”

Miura broke his own record as the J-league’s oldest goalscorer in June when he hit the winner against Mito at the age of 48 days, four months and two days.
