World-class theme park may be built in Bao’an
     2015-November-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE U.S. Paramount Pictures company is considering opening a version of the popular Paramount Theme Park in Bao’an District, according to cnstock.com.

A delegation of the Hollywood (China) Investment Group with the operating franchise of Paramount Theme Parks in China visited Bao’an District on Wednesday. The delegation showed willingness to build a Paramount Theme Park in Bao’an District.

The project was initiated by Hollywood MESA, Hollywood HITS and several other well-known film and technology companies in Hollywood, with overall investment of up to US$10 billion.

    No other details were available.

Industry analysts said that Shenzhen will play a more important role in movie productions and cultural tourism after the Paramount Theme Park is built in Bao’an District. It will also lay a solid foundation for the city’s international drive.

The construction of a large-scale theme park will further drive the development of the city’s economy, as well as pushing up the housing prices in the neighborhood, the analysts said.

The Paramount Theme Park is the third-largest theme park worldwide, following Disneyland and Universal Studios. Owned by Paramount Pictures and based in Florida, the United States, the theme park was founded 15 years ago, with more than 27,000 employees and a capacity to host over 14 million visitors per year.

Disney has a theme park in Shanghai, which is expected to open early next year, while Beijing’s Universal Studios theme park is being constructed in Tongzhou and expected to be completed in 2020.

Paramount Pictures is expanding its global business with the plan of building five theme parks and three experience museums around the world. (Zhang Yang)
