SZer warned for HK MTR eating
     2015-November-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

NETIZENS are praising the Hong Kong MTR operator for warning a Shenzhen woman after catching her eating bread in a paid area.

Her warning ticket was photographed and the photo was circulated on WeChat.

The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, was caught eating bread when waiting for a train to Hong Kong at the Lok Ma Chau Station, according to the photo on the Nov. 11 warning ticket she received from the Hong Kong MTR operator, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported yesterday.

The photo circulated on WeChat was shared by another woman who claimed to be the woman’s friend, the Daily said.

The report said if the first woman was caught eating on a train or in the paid area of any Hong Kong MTR station a second time, she would be prosecuted and fined HK$2,000 (US$258).

The strict law enforcement by Hong Kong MTR operator was widely praised by Shenzhen netizens, who said they hope Shenzhen will also enforce similar rules.

Shenzhen passed a regulation in September this year, banning eating and drinking on the city’s Metro network. A violator will be fined 500 yuan (US$78.45) if caught eating and drinking within paid areas of the Metro network, but baby food is exempted. (Han Ximin)
