THESE amazing snaps show daredevils hanging out — literally — in a rainbow-colored line of hammocks are tied to a high wire 50 meters above ground.
But the death-defying stunt wasn’t merely a thrill-seeking exercise — it was also a tribute to soldiers who died in the area during World War I.
A group of 26 people walked across the 209-meter-long highline above several ravines at Monte Piana, in the Italian Dolomites.
Then, they got comfortable in 17 brightly-colored hammocks.
Those inside the hammocks read the paper, played instruments, grabbed snacks, and passed each other drinks.
Many of the athletes, who are trained to walk on wires, spent the night in the hammocks before being joined by others in the morning.
To set up and then settle into their hammocks, those involved, who were clipped in for safety, had to carefully walk along the wire.
Photographer Sebastian Wahlhuetter, of Vienna, Austria, said, “It is always a great experience to see these people doing such an amazing project.
“After spending the night in the hammock, three founders of this idea and the highline festival, were joined by other athletes in an early morning session.
“In total 26 people came together to form a colorful rainbow in 17 hammocks creating a symbol of peace and a tribute to the past.”(SD-Agencies)
