SANDRA BULLOCK is now a mom of two.

    In an interview with People, Bullock revealed that she has adopted a 3-and-a-half-year-old girl named Laila who had previously been in foster care in Louisiana. In 2010, Bullock adopted her first child, a newborn son named Louis.

    “When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,” says Bullock, adding, “I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time.”

    Bullock also spoke about the way that her son paved the way for her adoption of a second child. “Louis spearheaded this whole journey,” Bullock says, while also highlighting the challenge of bringing a young child into her family. She explained that Laila has formed a strong bond with her older brother but initially the little girl needed deep reassurance and patience.

    “I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere,” she says of her daughter, adding that having a girl in the family had already brought “pink and glitter in the house mixed with Legos and Batmans.”

    Bullock also talked about how privacy was a huge concern to her when it came to the process of adopting her daughter.

    “You feel it’s very much like witness protection,” she says, describing that she was concerned that the adoption might be endangered by her stardom.

    This fear came to a head when Bullock, who fostered Laila before she went forward with the adoption proceedings, had to make an emergency room visit before the adoption was finalized.

    “Unbeknownst to me, a photographer had followed us and taken a photo of us in line,” the actress says. “The next day, I learned that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world. I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers — having them begging them to keep her safe.”

    Bullock expressed her deep concern about the exposure that her career might mean for her young daughter who has already been through so much.

    “Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances,” says Bullock. (SD-Agencies)
