    Researcher subsidy

    SHENZHEN has raised subsidies paid to post-doctorate researchers from 100,000 yuan (US$15,385) to 300,000 yuan a year, according to a government meeting chaired by Mayor Xu Qin on Monday. By the end of September, there were 835 post-doctorate researchers working at Shenzhen institutions and enterprises, an increase of 33 percent over 2014.

    Bao’an hospital

    THE Southern Medical University Shenzhen Hospital will open Dec. 28 in Bao’an District, offering outpatient and inpatient service with 2,500 beds. The hospital covers 82,412 square meters. The first phase of the project was budgeted at 2 billion yuan with a capacity of 8,000 visits a day.

    Parking refund

    THE city’s transport and financial authorities refunded 3.47 million yuan to 19,474 Kaoshuta parking meter card users by Monday, the last day of the refund, sources from Shenzhen Road Traffic Center said. The parking meter cards stopped being used in 1997, after the city’s finance authority stopped working with the Shenzhen Kaoshuta Parking Management Co. A large amount of money remained in the cards. The financial and transport commissions started refunding the remaining balance July 13.

    English training

    THE South University of Science and Technology of China will set up an English-learning center, which hires native English speakers with doctorates to teach students struggling with their English studies. The university will invite overseas scholars to give courses, organize academic exchanges and hold international conferences.

    Stroke help

    SHENZHEN Medical Emergency Center has set up its western office in Bao’an District to offer emergency treatment to patients suffering from strokes. Residents can get treatment through member hospitals, such as Bao’an People’s Hospital, Bao’an Central Hospital, Shiyan People’s Hospital, and hospitals in Guangming and Longhua. Strokes are the No. 1 killer in China.

    Binhai section reopens

    THE lanes of Binhai Boulevard, which were closed for Metro Line 9 construction, will be restored this month, the Metro project contractor said. The tunnel for Metro Line 9 was completed in November and the power supply system will be completed by the end of the month. The line will be put into operation before the end of 2016. It has an interchange station with Line 11 at Hongshuwan South Station.
