New single
CHINA’S “Godfather of Rock” Cui Jian released the first single from his upcoming album Friday.
Entitled “Waimian De Niu” in Chinese, which literally means “girls out there,” the song has come out along with a micro film of the same name. The song is included on the singer’s highly anticipated album “Guang Dong,” which marks Cui’s music comeback almost 10 years after his last release.
Lawsuit
A COURT in Beijing rejected an appeal by mainland scriptwriter Yu Zheng on Friday in a plagiarism case with popular Taiwan romance novelist Chiung Yao as the plaintiff.
The Beijing Higher People’s Court upheld the first-instance verdict issued in December 2014, ordering Yu and four companies involved in to pay 5 million yuan (US$771,600) to Chiung Yao, while Yu should apologize for copying her work.
Chiung Yao claimed that the plot of the TV series “The Palace: The Lost Daughter,” with Yu as the scriptwriter, was almost identical to her novel “Mei Hua Lao” (“Plum Blossom Scar”). He never sought permission to use her work.
Kris Wu in ‘Valerian’
FRENCH director Luc Besson has announced that Chinese-Canadian actor Kris Wu will join his latest science fiction film “Valerian.”
The award-winning director unveiled this news through his official Sina Weibo account. “Valerian” is based on the iconic French graphic novel series of the same name. “Valerian” will start filming soon, and is planned to be released around the summer of 2017.(SD-Agencies)
