Dafen gets creative with design exhibition
     2015-December-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The opening ceremony for the 2015 Creative and Art Carnival exhibition was held in the Dafen Art Museum plaza on Dec. 18. It is the prelude to a series of events that will gather young designers and design experts.

The exhibition featured artwork previously created by 50 students and 21 Dafen village-based painters during an August maker camp.

At the ceremony, a video recapped the contest. In the video, Professor Chen Yongqun, from Tongji University, announced the award winner was Kwong Hiu-tung, a Hong Kong student attending Birmingham City University.

The opening ceremony featured a performance by artist Huang Fengrong. Painting to music, Huang created a portrait of the chief designer of Dafen Art Museum, Meng Yan.

In attendance were guests like Alvin Yip, CEO and curator-in-chief of Circus-China, and Wang Yankui, director of the publicity department of Longgang District.

After the ceremony, a forum was hosted by the International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media at the Dafen Art Museum.

A creative market was also held in the Dafen Art Museum plaza, where handmade bags, paintings and other creative goods were sold.

The Dafen Art Museum building won a best public architecture award from Bloomberg Businessweek and Architectural Record.(Sherry Zhang)
