FUTIAN Railway Station, said to be the largest underground station in Asia, will open tomorrow, with ticket sales starting at 10 a.m. today.

The Guangzhou Railway Group Corp. will operate 11 pairs of high-speed trains between the station and Guangzhou South Station before Jan. 9. After Jan. 10, the trains will be increased to 23 pairs a day.

Second-class seats cost 82 yuan (US$13) and first-class seats 108 yuan. Passengers can buy tickets on China’s railway ticket website, www.12306.cn, at ticket counters, or through ticket outlets.

Located at the intersection of the Yitian Road and Shennan Boulevard in Futian, the three-story underground facility has a floor space of 147,000 square meters, equivalent to 21 soccer fields. It is an interchange for the Shekou and Longgang Metro lines and the future Line 11.
