Shaun Gibson, a University of Liverpool graduate who became an Internet sensation in China for his rendition of “My Little Apple,” will give a concert Jan. 6 at Shenzhen Poly Theater.
In Gibson’s “My Little Apple” video filmed in Liverpool, he stars with his mom, his sister and his Chinese friends. The video made the 24-year-old Gibson, from Northwich, a celebrity in China in 2014.
“When I arrived at the university I was amazed by the high number of Chinese students and became interested in their culture. I translated ‘My Little Apple’ into English and it led to me making the short video, singing the song in both English and Mandarin. I was amazed at its success in China when it went viral on various platforms,” said Gibson.
Gibson also shot music videos inspired by hit Chinese TV series “The Journey to the West” and “Empresses in the Palace.”
