Longgang officials arrested over graft
     2016-January-8  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THREE senior officials with the Longgang subbureau of the urban planning and land resources commission were arrested for allegedly taking bribes from property developers, a report in Thursday’s Southern Metropolis Daily said.

Feng Jiang, director of the subbureau, and his two deputies, Zhang Zhongxin and Zhang Hongbin, were investigated by the city’s Party disciplinary inspection commission in October last year on suspicion of taking bribes from property developers. They were removed from their posts after the investigation began.

    No other details were released.

Feng was appointed director of the Longgang subbureau by the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Planning and Land Resources Commission in September 2012. Feng’s suspected crimes may be related to an urban renovation project in Longgang, the report said.

The three officials worked under Jiang Zunyu, the former Party chief of Longgang District, who initiated a large scale urban renovation project during his tenure from October 2009 to April 2013.

Jiang was expelled from the Party and removed from his public post last year. The investigation against his alleged corruption is still under way.

During Jiang’s tenure in 2013, another official, Chen Daoyi, also with the district’s urban planning and land resources subbureau, was sentenced to 10 years in jail for taking bribes from developers and abuse of power.

Chen and Zhang Hongbin were appointed deputy chiefs of the subbureau in October 2009. (Han Ximin)
