WCBA suspends Shi Xiufeng for slapping player
     2016-January-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHANGHAI small forward Shi Xiufeng, capped many times for the national team, was suspended five games Monday for slapping Guangdong’s Belarussian center Yelena Leuchanka on her face in a Chinese Women’s Basketball Association (WCBA) game.

The Shanghai club was also fined 3,000 yuan (US$460) for Shi’s behavior.

In last Saturday’s match, Shi stunned fans by slapping Yelena’s face with 6:07 to go in the second quarter, before she was ejected by referees. Yelena also got a technical foul for the incident.

Shi was a member of the Chinese team for the Incheon Asian Games in 2014. She also played a key role in her club, averaging 12 points from 22 games this season.(Xinhua)
