Yang Cailan, a native from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, stands trial at a court in Fangchenggang City in the region yesterday. She was accused of swindling 96,576 yuan (US$14,689) from netizens, after she posted Aug. 13 three fake stories on her microblog claiming that her father had gone missing following the Tianjin blasts Aug. 12 and her mother had died.
