Rene Liu To perform at Shenzhen Bay
     2016-January-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Taiwanese singer Rene Liu, or Liu Ruoying, will give a concert July 9 at Shenzhen Bay Sports Center for her 2016 “Renext” world tour.

Nicknamed Milk Tea, Liu is well-known among the Chinese pop lovers for her soft and mellow voice and graceful stage presentation and is best known for such hit songs as “Love You So Much,” “Later” and “Crazy for Love.”

Liu’s Shenzhen concert, in the hope of bringing courage to the audience, will consist of four sections — “I Dare Love,” “I Regret,” “Missing You,” and “I Understand” — to represent people’s emotions and thoughts during different stages of life and to share inspiring stories.

Speaking of her “Renext” world tour, Liu said, “At this stage, there are choices between happiness and joy, work and life. It depends on whether you realize you can choose and whether you possess the courage to make the right choices. I choose what I want to do, so I have courage.”

Liu pursued her music studies at California State University in the United States after graduating from high school in Taipei. She returned to Taiwan after getting her degree in classical music and was recruited by Taiwan Rock Music.

Liu worked as assistant for popular singer-composer Bobby Chen while learning music from him. She released her first Chinese album in 1995. Her breakthrough came in 1998 with her fourth album, “Love You So Much.” It was one of the best albums of the year, and Liu was finally recognized for what she loves most — music.

In 2000, Liu released her fifth album, “Waiting for You,” which was probably the peak of her music career. She has so far released more than 10 albums, with the latest “Wish You Well” released Sept. 25, 2015.

Apart from singing, Liu has also ventured into acting, composition, book writing and movie script writing and has a long list of popular TV and movie appearances under her belt.
