CHINESE STUDENT KILLED IN US ROAD RAGE SHOOTING
     2016-January-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A 19-YEAR-OLD Chinese student was shot to death by an American woman after a collision between their cars in Arizona, the United States, on Saturday, an official from the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles confirmed Sunday.

Local police have arrested 32-year-old Holly Davis, who has been booked on three charges including a first-degree murder, according to AP.

Jiang Yue was a sophomore at the Arizona State University, said Jerry Gonzalez, spokesman of the university.

According to police, Davis’ vehicle hit Jiang’s in front of a stop light near Broadway Road and McClintock Drive in Tempe city at around 2:40 p.m. Saturday.

While Jiang’s male passenger got off the car to check the damage, Davis walked to Jiang with a gun and fired several shots at her through the window, the consulate said.

Tempe police Lt. Michael Pooley said those shots made Jiang lose control of her car, crashing her vehicle into another car carrying a family of five, including a pregnant woman and three children.

Jiang was taken to a hospital where she died. Jiang’s passenger sustained minor injuries.

The family did not suffer serious injuries. Davis fled the scene but was later located.

According to a local police report, the suspect admitted she was using Oxycodone.

The Chinese consulate said Jiang’s family in China has been informed and the consulate will closely watch the investigation.

The consulate also urged the police to protect the legal rights of Chinese citizens in the United States.
