MISSION Hills Dongguan will host some of the world’s best golfers in the fifth edition of the World Ladies Championship, scheduled from March 10 to 13.
Compared with the past four years, the prize money will be raised from the original US$600,000 to US$800,000, organizers said.
Apart from being co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and the China LPGA Tour, the championship is also co-sanctioned by the South Korea LPGA Tour for the first time.
The World Ladies Championship offers a unique “three events in one” format — individual professional competition, a team championship in which countries are represented by teams of two, and an individual amateur category.
With world No. 1 Inbee Park from South Korea and some of the best players on the European Tour, it promises to be an exciting event.
It has attracted many famous women golfers in the past years, with South Korean Ryu So-yeon, current world No. 5, winning in 2015, South Korean Inbee Park, current world No. 1, winning the 2014 title.
China’s Feng Shanshan, world No. 6, won the title in the first championship in 2012.
