New road projects to ease Luohu traffic
     2016-February-2  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

NEW construction projects are expected to ease traffic in Luohu District near Yanhe Road and Shennan Road, an area that connects downtown with eastern Shenzhen, the municipal transport commission announced Sunday.

The first project at the Xinxiu Interchange was launched Sunday. The Xinxiu Interchange connects Shennan Road and Yanhe Road in Luohu District, but is difficult for vehicles to turn around in. The renovation project will turn the existing interchange into a diamond-shaped interchange with more turning lanes.

The renovation Sunday marks the beginning of several traffic projects in Luohu.

Apart from the Xinxiu project, several other projects, including the renovation of the Luofang Flyover and the widening of the existing Buxin and Aiguo roads, are also expected to be completed by the end of 2020. These projects are expected to greatly ease traffic pressure in the area.

Luohu District was the first area to be developed in Shenzhen and now often struggles with traffic when holidaymakers need to travel through the district to reach the more scenic eastern Shenzhen.

The municipal government raised the traffic issue in Luohu District in September last year and the issue is set to be solved by the end of 2020.

Among several projects, the renovation of the Xinxiu Interchange and the construction of a new tunnel along Chunfeng Interchange will start construction this year.
