    ‘Cards’ renewed

    NETFLIX has announced that “House of Cards” will be returning for a fifth season in 2017, But co-creator and writer Beau Willimon will not be returning.

    The Academy Award-nominated writer is said to be writing an original play. Netflix made the announcement ahead of season 4’s much-anticipated debut March 4.

    ‘Musketeer’ dies

    BRITISH actor Frank Finlay, who was nominated for an Oscar for his work in “Othello” and starred in the “Three Musketeers” films of the ’70s, died Saturday. He was 89.

    Finlay starred alongside Oliver Reed, Richard Chamberlain and Michael York in 1973’s “The Three Musketeers” before returning as Porthos for “The Four Musketeers: Milday’s Revenge” in 1974. He went on to reprise his role in the 1989 film “The Return of the Musketeers.”

    Nominations

    CRIME thriller “Port of Call” leads the the 35th Hong Kong Film Awards nominations, scoring 13 nominations, including best actor, best actress, best film, best director and best screenplay.

    “The Taking of Tiger Mountain” by veteran director Tsui Hark follows closely with 11. The third installment of the “Ip Man” series is the third most nominated film with eight nominations. This year’s best actor nominees are Andy Lau, Nick Cheung, Tony Leung, Jacky Cheung and Aaron Kwok. The best actress nominees include Tang Wei, Miriam Yeung, Sylvia Chang, Karena Lam and Jessi Li.
