THE construction of a municipal road between Wuhe Road and Nanping Expressway in Longgang District hasn’t started as scheduled because of a private villa located in the middle of the planned construction area, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.
The municipal road is supposed to be a junction between Minzhi and Bantian subdistricts, connecting Nanping Expressway on the east and Wuhe Road on the west, according to nearby residents. Residents in Minle Village heard in 2012 that the government was planning to build the road, but construction has never started.
Near the Nanping Checkpoint, where the road is supposed to begin, there is a walled villa with a basketball court, a tennis court and a swimming pool. According to residents from nearby neighborhoods, the delay in road construction is due to the villa.
The city’s urban planning and land resources commission website shows the planned road, named Wuhe South Road, will be a municipal road with six lanes. According the plan, the road is supposed to go through the area where the villa is located, meaning the road will have to go around the villa if the road is to be constructed.
The new road connecting Wuhe Road and Nanping Expressway is expected to improve traffic in the area. (Zhang Yang, Liu Qi)
