Save the best for last. Swedish super band The Real Group will perform at the Shenzhen Concert Hall in July.

    The three-man-two-woman group performed at the Swedish queen’s birthday with former Abba member Anni-Frid Lyngstad and sang at the opening of the FIFA World Cup in South Korea and Japan. In Shenzhen, they will sing “Gee! Mine or Mozart’s?” “A Minute on Your Lips,” “Love’s Forever,” “Pass Me the Jazz” and more.

    With the voice as their sole instrument, they have created a unique musical expression in the field between jazz, pop and Nordic European choir music. Seeking perfection, their personal touch and original songs have won the hearts of music enthusiasts.

    Members of the group graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm with the highest degree in 1989. Since then, they have performed around the world. The group’s members compose or arrange most of the songs that they perform. A large portion of the group’s recorded songs are sung in English, with the remainder being almost entirely in Swedish. The group cites Bobby McFerrin as an early source of inspiration: “What we do may never have happened if we hadn’t heard his albums.”

    Their wide repertoire has made it possible for them to collaborate with symphony orchestras, jazz groups, pop bands and artists such as Barbara Hendricks, Toots Thielemans and George Martin.

    Having released 17 CDs, they produce their own concert tours and TV programs. In 2008, the band initiated and hosted “The Real A Cappella Festival.” In 2012, “The Real Group Festival” had visitors from more than 20 countries. They released the Christmas album “A World for Christmas” on Universal Music in the same year.
