Yin Zhibiao (L), head of Guangzhou No. 8 People’s Hospital, briefs journalists about the situation of a Zika-infected patient at a press conference yesterday. The 28-year-old patient, who is the second imported Zika case in China and Guangdong’s first, is recovering, Yin said. The patient was found running a fever at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on Friday before he was confirmed to have the Zika virus by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday. The patient was exposed to an infected person in Venezuela days before returning to Guangzhou on Feb. 9 via the Netherlands and Russia. China’s first patient with the virus was discharged from hospital Sunday. Symptoms of the Zika virus, which spreads to people through mosquito bites, include fever, joint pain, a rash, conjunctivitis, headache and muscle pain.Xinhua
