飞特族

    fēitèzú

    Meaning: It is a combibation of the the English word "free" and the German word "arbeiter." which means "worker." It refers to those who work only when feel they need some money. They have a working time more flexible than freelancers. Ususally freeters work part-time in the IT industry, advertising or other media outlets and most of them are well-lnown in their field of career.

    Example:

    A: 你姐又出门旅游了？

    Nǐ jiě yòu chūmén lǚyóu le?

    Is your sister traveling again?

    B: 是啊，她辞了工作，现在是个飞特族。

    Shì a, tā cí le gōngzuò, xiànzài shì ge fēitèzú。

    Yeah, she quit her job and is now a freeter.

    A: 她挣的够花吗？

    Tā zhèng de gòu huā ma?

    Can she make ends meet?

    B: 除了旅游，她平时很节省的。

    Chú le lǚyóu, tā píngshí hěn jiéshěng de。

    She's not a big spender except for the cost of traveling.
