Veteran actor dies
ACTOR Ge Cunzhuang died Friday morning at 87. Starting his acting career in 1949, he is well-known for his roles in “Red Flag,” “Little Soldier Zhang Ga,” and “From Victory to Victory.”
He won the best supporting actor award at China’s Golden Rooster Awards in 1998. He is the father of award-winning actor Ge You, famous for his comedy roles.
Soprano dies
CHINESE soprano and vocal educator Zhou Xiaoyan passed away early Friday morning. She was 99. Born in 1917, Zhou was called the “Nightingale from China.” Performing in theaters across Europe in the 1940s, she returned in 1947 to become a vocal teacher at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
Child support payment
CHARLIE SHEEN recently sold his profit participation rights to comedy series “Two and a Half Men” for nearly US$27 million, the actor disclosed in a court filing seeking to cut child support payments for his twin sons.
Sheen’s filing states his income has changed significantly and he wants to change the US$55,000-a-month minimum monthly child support payments for his 6-year-old boys.(SD-Agencies)
