Beer fan aims 3-year pub crawl around London
     2016-March-8  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A BEER fan has taken the humble pub crawl to another level having spent the last three years visiting hundreds of pubs.

Sam Cullen is set to complete “London’s Longest Pub Crawl” after stopping off for refreshments at watering holes near each of the capital’s 270 Tube stations, in the order they opened to the public.

The 28-year-old politics researcher has reviewed each pub on his blog INNside Track and is definitely the person to speak to if you are looking for somewhere to have a decent pint in London. He set himself the challenge after being inspired by a documentary about the Tube’s 150th anniversary and had his first pint for the challenge in March 2013 at The Fountains Abbey in Paddington.

The beerocrat finally completed his challenge last weekend when he headed to The Defector’s Weld near Wood Lane station in West London.

“My mission is to visit and review a pub for all 270 Stations on the London Underground,” he explains on his blog. “The rules are simple, I’m visiting the stations in the order they opened. The pub I visit doesn’t have to be the closest to the Tube station, it just can’t be closer to any other station on the network.”

In an interview with Munchies, he discussed his pub crawl experiences and revealed his favorite pub was The Atlas in West Brompton.

“I always wanted to do something where I could review pubs. I already knew quite a few good pubs in London so that was the start. But then again, that wasn’t much of a hook — I didn’t want to just write about pubs I know at random,” he said.(SD-Agencies)
