Overseas study fair Sunday
     2016-March-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

An overseas study fair will be held Sunday afternoon at Wuzhou Guest House in Futian District to provide tailored counseling on education at overseas schools and institutes.

Educational experts returning from overseas will introduce popular institutes in Britain, North America and New Zealand and focus on preparations for the upcoming study season. The fair will offer a wide range of overseas education counseling, from high schools to postgraduate programs.

Officials from the British Consulate and the education promotion office of New Zealand will elaborate on the latest policies for overseas students. Recruitment representatives from overseas institutes will also be present to provide counseling for students and parents.

Students can also apply for interviews with some overseas institutes at the fair.

Catering to the rising preference for boarding schools for younger students, a number of boarding schools explaining what life would be like in their schools will also be at the fair. Young applicants can take character tests at the fair to see if they would be suitable for certain subjects of study.

It is now easier for Chinese students to study in New Zealand and start a career there since the country relaxed its visa policy for overseas students, according to Amber Education, the fair’s organizer. New Zealand now offers a five-year Pathway Student Visa and grants one-year work visas to fresh graduates who have completed a degree there.

He Chugang, general manager of Amber Education’s South China office, encourages college graduates, if their family income permits, to continue their studies overseas to improve their language skills and earn a higher degree in the face of the harsh employment environment in China.

Organized by Amber Education, a Hong Kong-based study institution with more than 15 years of experience in the field, the exhibition is also being simultaneously held in Guangzhou.

Inviting the participation of many foreign institutes, the fair intends to offer high school students more options for college education since students can apply to foreign colleges while remaining interested in domestic colleges.

    Time: 2-6 p.m., March 13

Venue: Shenzhen Hall, Wuzhou Guest House, No. 6001, Shennan Road, Futian District (深圳福田区五洲宾馆深圳厅)(Anna Zhao)
