‘From Maker to Market’ workshop by Martin Hennessey
     2016-March-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

British journalist-turned-tech-entrepreneur Martin Hennessey will give a lecture on maker and entrepreneurship in a workshop in F518 Idea Land. No admission fee is charged but attendees should register on https://yoopay.cn/event/34382132 in advance.

This workshop is designed to inspire makers who want to set up and run their own businesses. It is aimed at anyone who already has an idea and wants to turn it into a growing business or who runs a business and wants to grow it substantially.

Hennessey launched his first company, The Writer (www.thewriter.com) in 2000. It is now a transatlantic writing consultancy, with offices in London and New York City, and clients ranging from Cisco and PwC to BT and Telefonica.

Since stepping back from The Writer four years ago, Hennessey has been learning to make and design micro-controller projects, first as an amateur and recently as an entrepreneur. Since last summer, Hennessey has been retained as an adviser to a New York City-based robotics education company. In the past two years, he has launched two new maker-based companies: Machido and Little Big Wordio.

Machido is an education company based at Makerversity in London where they teach children and adults how to make programable machines with code using visual blocks. They’ve developed their own Machidoboard — a variation of Arduino for use by primary school children.

Martin is also a participant in the “Living Research: Making in China” project, helping the Western world to understand Chinese maker culture through practical creativity and collaboration.
