Doll maker creates hyper-realistic celebrity figurines
     2016-March-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

ONE Instagramer is creating dolls that look so real, you might mistake them for the celebrity they’re modeled after.

The user, known as Cyguy83 — real name Cyrus — has made dolls that are perfect replicas of Madonna, Meryl Streep, Beyonce and more.

“I am obsessed with creating a perfect likeness when I am making celebrity dolls,” Cyrus told WIRED.

From perfectly curled hair to getting the eyebrows just right, Cyrus spares no detail when it comes to creating his one-of-a-kind dolls.

He also sells the dolls on eBay for nearly US$200 — currently an Adele custom creation has been bid on 18 times and is going for US$197 — but he has sold dolls for as much as US$1,500.

Cyrus said there are lots of clients, enough to build up weeks-long backlogs at times.

To get the look of the celebrity dead-on, Cyrus said he often molds the dolls’ heads himself.

“Sometimes I use an existing doll head mold, strip off the factory paint, and repaint it.

“Often, though, I cannot get the likeness I want with a factory head sculpt.

“In those cases, I will sculpt a new head myself, cast it in a mold, and go from there,” he said.(SD-Agencies)
