Mariah Carey to star in E! series ‘Mariah’s World’
     2016-March-17  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

MARIAH CAREY will be joining the E! lineup later this year. The New York Times announced the singer’s new eight-part documentary series “Mariah’s World,” which will follow her as she tours around Europe and South Africa and plans her wedding.

“I refuse to call it a reality show,” Carey told the Times. The series will consist of hour-long episodes, and, according to the singer, a more intimate glimpse at her daily life.

Carey just launched her tour around Europe and South Africa, so no premiere date has been set for the series, though it is expected to debut later this year. Jeff Olde, E!’s executive vice president for program development, noted that “a star of her level and her history” has not appeared on television in the way Carey will appear on the upcoming show.

Olde continued to cite some particular quirks that the diva has displayed in her career that may be present in the documentary. “She cannot speak the day before a performance,” he said. “She knows exactly what she wants but she has to communicate through writing or sign language, and it’s sort of a joke within her group, because she has to preserve her voice.”

Last year, Carey premiered her Las Vegas residency. Over the summer, she debuted her new single “Infinity” in support of her greatest hits compilation “#1 to Infinity.” (SD-Agencies)
