‘Bull’
Adapted from British playwright Mike Bartlett’s play, the Chinese version of “Bull” centers on three employees, one of whom will be fired by their boss. Anyone who has seen “The Apprentice” on TV will recognize the trope. It’s clear right from the outset that a shuffling, hunched employee has been identified for the chop by the others. It’s like watching the playground bullies beat up the wimpy kid, but Bartlett identifies something true about all of us: nobody likes a loser.
