    Baby

“GAME of Thrones” star Carice van Houten and Aussie actor Guy Pearce are expecting their first child together.

Dutch actress Houten, who portrays Melisandre in the hit HBO series, is starring in the film “Race” about track star Jesse Owens’ historic wins in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The 39-year-old is also a singer and has released two albums.

Pearce, 48, currently stars in Australian TV series “Jack Irish” and will portray F. Scott Fitzgerald in the upcoming film “Genius.”

    Awards

“THE Assassin” has swept the board at this year’s Asian Film Awards. The movie bagged the best film, with Hou Hsiao-hsien earning the best director prize, and leading actress Shu Qi scooping best actress award in Macao on Thursday.

“The Assassin” has taken home more than half of the event’s prizes — eight out of 15 trophies, breaking the record of seven awards earned by “The Grandmaster” in 2014. South Korean actor Lee Byung-hun has claimed the best actor trophy for his role in hit drama “Inside Men.” Jia Zhangke collected a best script award for his “Mountains May Depart.”

    Rene Liu directing

TAIWANESE actress and singer Rene Liu recently announced her film project “Lieutenant Yi,” with Sylvia Chang on board as producer.

Set in late 1980s Taiwan, the film portrays a well-known singer who “tries to transform herself but arrives at unexpected outcome.”

Liu said this story is inspired by her family’s real experience. Liu and Chang have collaborated on several films, such as the 2004 ensemble drama “20 30 40.”(SD-Agencies)
