Israeli painter and sculptor David Gerstein’s exhibition “No Favorite Color” opened at Pal’s Club in OCT-LOFT last week.
He began as a figurative painter and illustrator of children’s books and was a recipient of the Israel Museum Prize for Illustration. Gerstein’s post-pop art style is characterized by boldly colored, multi-layered cutout steel. His outdoor sculpture “Momentum” is Singapore’s tallest public sculpture.
Gerstein is known for his outdoor sculptures, many of them decorating city squares. His sculptures can be found at the entrance to the Rehovot Mall, Ra’anana Park, Avdat and on the campus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His sculpture of a Roman warrior is in Bromford, London.
