Zellweger returns in trailer as new Bridget Jones
     2016-March-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BRIDGET JONES is back, and the good news is that she looks pretty much like Renee Zellweger, rather than the unrecognizable impostor who emerged a couple of years ago.

A teaser for the third film in the “Bridget Jones’s Diary” series has been released on YouTube. In the tiny 15-second clip for the upcoming “Bridget Jones’ Baby,” actress Zellweger reprises her role as Bridget Jones, as the character learns to navigate life in her 40s. Up to her usual antics, she can be seen crowd-surfing and falling face-first into a pile of mud.

Having been jilted at the altar, Jones is still working in TV, hanging out with bezzie mate Sally Phillips, scandalizing mum Gemma Jones and cuddling up to dear old dad Jim Broadbent. Her music tastes might have been updated a little, however. Out with Céline Dion, in with Ed Sheeran, who makes a flash-frame appearance here.

The trailer features a very funny scene in which Emma Thompson’s obstetrician has to perform two eight-week scans because Jones appears to have told both prospective partners that the sprog is theirs.

A decade older than when we last time saw her, in 2004’s “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason,” everyone’s favorite calorie-counting media muppet is still juggling blokes (Patrick Dempsey joins Colin Firth to form the new instalment’s love triangle), but this time has a bun in the oven to boot.

Directed by Sharon Maguire, the movie will be released in Britain and North America on Sept. 16.(SD-Agencies)
