Tuberculosis
     2016-March-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

More than 5,000 Shenzhen residents were diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB) last year, slightly more than a year ago, the city’s center for chronic disease control and prevention said Thursday.

Tan Weiguo, a director with the center, attributed the rise in cases to the greater number of migrant workers coming to the city. Tan also suggested the weather might be causing the disease.

“The rise is not big. It’s only a single-digit rise,” said Tan. Shenzhen currently has 3,800 TB patients, with 3,600 being nonpermanent residents, according to the center.
