    First Fridays

    First Fridays returns to Shenzhen’s only inner city beach for some outdoor cinema action at Futian Beach! Award-winning documentary “Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest” about renowned hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest will be shown. Local bands Colin Phils, Choked Zone and Sage of Time will perform at 10 p.m.

    American football

    The Shenzhen Buffaloes, Shenzhen’s first American football team, is looking for players, coaches and volunteers. Males aged above 16 can join the practice on Saturday. Bring your own sports clothes. The team has some equipment to share.

    Job fair for foreigners

    HiredChina will host its Spring 2016 Foreign Job Fair in Shenzhen on Saturday.     Shaoxing opera shows

    Performers from Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, will give two Shaoxing opera shows, “Butterfly Lovers” and “Phoenix Hairpin,” this weekend. Shaoxing opera is a form of Chinese opera founded around 1906 in Zhejiang Province. The opera is elegant and soft, which makes it suitable for telling love stories. “Phoenix Hairpin” is adapted from famed poet Lu You’s personal experience. “The Butterfly Lovers” is based on the legendary Chinese tragic love story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. The story is often regarded as the Chinese “Romeo and Juliet.”

    Time: 8 p.m., April 2 (“Butterfly Lovers”), 3 (“Phoenix Hairpin”)
